R&R and a Wonderful Wedding In Roanoke

Ryan, Nathalie and Amy - law school reunion!

The last weekend in May Calvin and I attended my good friend Nathalie's wedding. I had not seen Nathalie or Ryan, one of my other good law school friends who also attended the wedding, in over two years! We had a great time enjoying the town, the festivities and the relaxation that comes from taking some time away. Roanoke is truly a beautiful place.

Our awesome hotel, Hotel Roanoke. The hotel is a renovated hotel, originally built in 1882. We enjoyed the outdoor pool & jacuzzi as well as the warm cookies provided at check-in and on request.

Cal with the famous Roanoke fountain - one side for people, the other for horses. If you drink from it you will return to Roanoke many times. I guess we'll be back!

The rehearsal dinner was at the Virginia Transportation Museum. They had this neat model train as well as tons of other cars, old trains and exhibits.

All aboard!

In front of a giant old locomotive.

Saturday we walked the town, including viewing the weekly farmer's market. The local art museum was having their annual sidewalk art show as well, which was fun to peruse. We had perfect weather, a bit cooler than Atlanta.

Strawberries - we bought a pint to sample - yum!

Soapmaking demonstration.

Special seared tuna salad from Metro Restaurant, our Saturday lunch.

Dim sum platter.

Old fashioned ice cream maker.

Vanilla and peach (underneath) ice cream - very tasty with the DoubleTree cookies!

The wedding ceremony and cocktail hour were at the Box Tree Lodge in Vinton, Virginia.

All dressed up and ready to party!

Nathalie and Drew tie the knot! Congratulations!

Back at the Hotel Roanoke, beautiful table arrangements and dinner await us.

Delicious salad with poached pears, bleu cheese and toasted nuts.

Yay for not having chicken - it was surf and turf.

Traditional wedding cake.

French cream puff cake (Croquembouche).

Tasty!

I'm missing your posts, Amy :( I'm lost in a sea of restaurants with no guide this month.

Beautiful wedding! It's hard to believe that it had been two years since we were all together last. I'll have to get down to Atlanta sometime soon so we don't stretch too far past 2 years. ;)

Loved the idea of the bridesmaids in sugared almond coloured outfits, all different. This couple look like they are going to have a lifetime of happy times together and will spread a few smiles around on their way.
